Long Valley, New Jersey
A masterpiece of American ingenuity and hand-craftsmanship, this authentic re-creation of a classic, 18th century Colonial manor house with 360 degree views of the surrounding pastures and woodlands is just an hour from Manhattan.
Using a staggering 550 members of hand-pegged timber joinery without a single nail, this custom-designed, 5,000-sq.ft. stone and clapboard residence is one of the largest timber-framed houses ever built. The interior, finished by Eberle Builders is primarily antique American chestnut, a wood that has been extinct since 1850. Every stone used in the masonry was quarried on the 54-acre property.
From its seamed copper and hand-split shake shingle roof and hand-fired Bucks County Moravian tiles, to the hand-forged period hardware and double-paned, hand-blown glass windows, the craftsmanship and attention to period detail is meticulous. With its old-world grace and state-of-the-art technology, this rural retreat in the heart of New Jersey's exclusive horse country is the personification of gracious, country living.
